Membership Classes

  • Professional Members: Any individual ordinarily resident in Barbados who professionally advises on Town Planning questions on land development in Barbados may be elected as a Professional member of the Society with the approval of the Council, by ballot subject to satisfying the minimum requirements for professional experience. Applicants for professional membership must satisfy the BTPS on their academic standard and relevant practice. Generally speaking, an academic degree/diploma of a University which is recognised by the professional planning institute of that country is likely to be accepted.
  • Graduate Members: Any individual ordinarily resident in Barbados who has obtained an academic qualification acceptable to Council and who has not yet satisfied Council’s requirements for professional experience.
  • Associate Members: Any individual who has an interest in the objects of the Society may become a member of the Society with the approval of Council.
  • Student Members: Any individual who is enrolled in a planning course recognised by Council.
  • Honorary Member: An individual recognised by the Society to have rendered outstanding services to the aims of the Society and/or to Planning in Barbados.
  • A Fellow is an individual recognised by the Society to have made a truly significant contribution to the Society and its aims and objectives. A Fellow must be nominated by other members. The process of becoming a Fellow is managed by the Executive. The grade of Fellow is reserved for Professional Members of the Society.
