2025 Webinar: Coastal Building Setback Requirements

Coastal setback policies and the work of coastal planners are crucial for protecting lives, property, and natural resources in coastal areas. These policies create buffers between development and the shoreline, mitigating the impacts of coastal hazards like erosion, flooding, and storm surges, which are exacerbated by climate change and rising sea levels.

The Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) plays a key role in implementing and enforcing coastal setback regulations, and often work closely with the Planning and Development Department to provide expertise and guidance in this area.
